To put it as diplomatically as possible, the PFA’s choice of Ryan Giggs as their “Player of the Year” (and my apparently insane support of it) received a “mixed” reaction among our loyal readers, and for that matter, the other writers here at Avoiding the Drop. The people having spoken, I shall heed the words of my father and, rather than simply pointing out a problem, I will put forward a solution- giving out our own awards!!!
I don’t want to bog things down with too many rules and regulations, so I’ll just give a brief description of each award and trust your good judgment.
Player of the Year: No limitations, who was the best player you saw this season?
Young Player of the Year: Any player under age 25.
Old Player of the Year: Any player age 35 or over.
Goalkeeper of the Year: Self-explanatory.
Underrated Player of the Year: Self-explanatory.
Overrated Player of the Year: This should be fun…
The only awards that the same person can’t win are the “young” and “old” player of the year. A goalkeeper could, conceivably, win three of the four.
Manager of the Year: Self-explanatory
Club of the Year: Self-explanatory
National Team of the Year: Remember, this year, not just the last WC or EC champion.
Transfer of the Year: Could be a good one, or a bad one.
Goal of the Year: A little hint, it’s this one.
The winners will be announced at the end of the month. Oh, and please, just one name per award!

Can we add an “Underrated Player” award?
Done, and I added an “Overrated Player” as well.
